Jesus Never Lies

Jesus speaking in John 14:6 says, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Someone recently released a piece in which he called Jesus a liar- Established as the only explanation and so he titled it, Jesus you lied.

The challenge is that he concludes the piece inferring that God is faithful.

It is important to clarify that God cannot be both faithful and a liar. Neither can he at one moment be a liar and at another moment be faithful; as he is the same always and forever.

My approach in my piece which I titled, Jesus Never Lies is to ask questions whose answers provoke us to consider who God is to us. Whether he is a conditional being that must conform to our limited knowledge of which we frown when he doesn’t, or if he is God nonetheless.

I realise that we all go through phases in different stages of our lives, and more worthy of note is the fact that if we would be honest with ourselves; we’ve all doubted Jesus in one way or the other and He is fully aware of this. It’s human nature. What would be upsetting is pretending to be OK when we’re not, in the presence of an all knowing God. Indeed he loves our honesty as the poet clearly states out in his piece.

However, it becomes foolishness when we decide our interpretation of situations surrounding us should be the standard on how others should perceive theirs. It is even more foolish to think popularity permits compromise from a place of limited understanding.

Because we live in a generation that enjoys miracles more than the miracle working God and want fast food without any food for thought, I had to give a reply. To give another explanation- a continuation of God’s whisper.

Jesus Never Lies is a tale of reasoning and not condemnation. A reminder that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”- Roman’s 8:28.

No matter what you are going through, JESUS NEVER LIES. Hold on, he’s faithful to the end.

The Unchanging Power of the Truth

A Study of Matthew 27:32-61 with a focus on verse 37 (Kjv)

‘… and set up over His head His accusation written, ‘this is Jesus the king of the Jews’…”-37

From our understanding of the Bible, Jewish people did not believe and still do not believe in Jesus, to be the King of the Jews (the Messiah). This was even the accusation labeled against Him as scripture explains it, but why wasn’t the inscription- “This is Jesus who claims to be the king of the Jews”? Surely it couldn’t have been a space problem!

Yes, in so doing they tried to mock Him, but when dealing with the Truth, whether consciously or unconsciously, even your enemies cannot deny it. It is important to note that it would have made more sense if the inscription was the latter expression because, there were people who didn’t know Jesus as King- let alone as someone who claimed to be one. Therefore, it would only be normal for them to see Jesus and know exactly what he is guilty of- Remember, the inscriptions are placed so that people can know what your offense is; in the case of the robbers; anyone seeing them would know they were guilty of robbery, not that they claimed to have robbed. But in the case of Jesus, as the Bible tells us, the Jews did not crucify Him because ‘He claimed to be the king’ but because ‘He is the king’, as recorded in verse 37 of our study guide.

The point is this- As seen from Vs.51-54, the truth will always come out; though delayed- it can never be denied.  When people falsely accuse you, or when people try to hold you down from the truth of who you are, learn from Jesus- hold on to God and they themselves,  will be the ones to affirm to the truth of who you are.

Jesus at any point could have wanted to ‘show off’ and freed Himself from them “but for the joy set before Him, He endured till the very end”. One Key truth Christ left us with from this message is that when we find ourselves in such trying times ( of whatsoever nature), whatever decision we decide to take should always remain in the will of God and in so doing, in the presence of our accusers, we will be liberated and subsequently celebrated.

I therefore decree and declare for you today, in the name that is above all names; that anyone that wants to deny the glory God has placed upon your life, will be the same person to promote it in Jesus name!!!

The story of Joseph and Esther-as seen in Genesis 37-41 and Esther 2-7, respectively, further explain this prayer.

When the enemy is done planning; God’s blessings always comes! If the enemy doesn’t repent, he will fall into the trap he set for you. Here’s the good news though and the message of the cross, the enemy can repent; that is why Christ died on the cross- To Bring Forgiveness and Hope in Salvation.

God bless you as you walk in His footsteps…

Taking Jesus to the World- Part 2

image

The whole message of Christianity entails taking Jesus to the world.

Have we ever wondered what it actually means to take Jesus to the world?

Has the book of Matthew 28:18-20 become so familiar, that it’s limited only to preaching the Word with our mouth?

Taking Jesus to the world- what does this mean?

‘To take something’ means to ‘carry’ that thing- if you are carrying or picking up something; it means it wasn’t in your hand before and must have been somewhere else. Our  ability to carry implies we also have the ability to leave it- it is a choice. We can decide to take Jesus to the world and likewise decide not to take Him to the world.
Are there places we take Jesus to and places we don’t?

In a worldly setup- take relationship for instance, there is no way in hell’s way that you would ever take your side chick as a man to meet your wife unless you wanted to replace the equation- but untill then…
So it is with the concept of Jesus- are there people or places you feel your association with Jesus is a risk- a temptation- an embarrassment? Or worse, is wrong?
Is Jesusjust a ‘side chick’ to us?

In the bid to try and ‘feel among’ with the ‘big boys, big girls, fashionistas, those current and trending’ etc., we forget to take Jesus along…

Are we justified by our sunday and worship days ministration to people who have come to see Christ, so much so that we think our great commission to ‘go and make desciples to all nations’ (not just those that come to church) no longer  count on other days And moments?

Give unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what’s God’s and so like a radio station playing random songs ( including music that do not glorify God) to make ‘ends meet’ as a business, from Sunday afternoon to Saturday midnight- turning all gospel and spiritual on sunday mornings; only to return to their Caesar 12:00pm that same sunday- Because we too only belong to Jesus in part, we only share and show Jesus when its the custom- ignoring Him when it comes to profit and the’ business of the day’
Cuz let’s face it- ‘Jesus is bad for business’, ‘Jesus puts us in a box’ (I really wipe because these statements were made by christians- can we ever be so creative that we become more creative than the one that created us? )

I recall a moment in time when Jesus in all authority declared ‘His glory He will share with no one’…

What does it mean to take Jesus to the World?
How do we even take Him to the world?
We cannot give what we do not have
We cannot take Jesus to the world if we’ve not got Him

I hear you say ‘I’ve got Jesus’- where then did you drop him?
Where are you hiding Him?
Where are you taking Him to?
Where is Jesus suppose to be- be in your life?

‘Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears me and opens the door, I’ll enter and dine with him’…

Which part of us is God still knocking at?
What parts of our life and associations is God still locked out from?
‘Let us make man in OUR image and after OUR Likeness’

‘Your body is the temple of the Most High God’
‘No longer I but Christ that lives I me’

As a christian, there shouldn’t be a difference between you and Him- for we house and reflect Him. His perfection, His way of life is what we are all trying to reach, so in other to get the same results as Christ, we must not be found different from Him. We are ‘ambassadors of Christ’- when people see us, they should be able to see a perspective of Jesus in us. This implies that where ever we take ourselves, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO TAKE JESUS THERE TOO.
This truth will only make sence if we are conscious and accept the fact that we are created in the Image of  Christ to represent Him here on earth.

Taking Jesus to the world means we are aware of who we carry on the inside and are willing to let the world know so evidently with our lives everywhere we find ourselves with whosoever we find ourselves.

When last did you take Jesus to the world?
It’s so simple-
Be who you are- whom He created you to be,
and they will see Jesus in YOU!!!

Speaking in tongues-

Having a Right Motive and Understanding- A Contextual Study on 1st Corinthians 14 as it relates to the church.

f677603e-5f54-4c04-8922-9da24bb4ffb2-1‘…It is important that everyone have access to the knowledge and love of God in the language everyone understands, than that you go off and cultivate God’s presence in a mysterious prayer language…- 1st Corinthians 14:5 (Msg)

When the Holy Spirit fell upon the Apostles, they began to speak in tongues (in a number of different languages) and the people (Parthians, Medes, Elamites; visitors from Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene; immigrants from Rome, both Jews and proselytes; Cretans and Arabs) understood them according to his/her tribe (Acts 2:1-11 Msg).

Speaking in tongues is a sign for unbelievers (1st Corinthians 14:22 Msg). I would like to believe that when the disciples spoke, Jewish people were around also (yes they were) – if they spoke in other tongues, how is it that even their people understood? What if they wouldn’t have understood?

The only time speaking in tongues to the public (Church) is significant, is when there is an interpreter as the Holy Spirit did in the time of the Apostles. This is because if you speak in a way no one understands, what’s the point of opening your mouth’? (1st Corinthians 14:9 Msg)

‘He who speaks in tongues edifies himself… unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified’- (1st Corinthians 14:4-5 Niv).

Don’t get me wrong- Speaking in tongues is a beautiful experience God has allowed us share with Him and even Apostle Paul who wrote to the Corinthians affirmed to the wonderful intimacy it provides us with God (1st Corinthians 14:18 Msg). However, my point is this; ‘since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church- (1st Corinthians 14:12 Niv)

THE ABUSE-

Isn’t it funny how people think ‘speaking in tongues’ and ‘saying things you don’t understand’ are synonymous?- Sst

And so they open their mouths in church to speak ten thousand words that sound like gibberish, rather than speak five that everyone will understand’-1st Corinthians 14:19 Msg (paraphrased).

The value and beauty of speaking in tongues has been nullified to a very large extend by people who have adapted the world system of ‘wanting to feel among’ and unfortunately the church isn’t doing much about it; some new ministries even promote this directly or indirectly. What are you as a pastor or child of God doing about this?

In those days, people believed the size of your bible is the size of your anointing and so you see pastors and ‘strong men of God’ with huge bibles. People with little bibles on the other hand were always looked down upon; and so everyone wanted a big bible, just so, they too can feel among. Do you remember those days?

Don’t get me wrong- MOTIVE… motive is the foundation of everything penned down today, so unless you are guilty, don’t feel the guilt!

People these days go to the extent of learning and memorizing how to speak in tongues, word for word from what they heard from their Pastors/Ministers. This is partly because churches (new generational churches) sometimes make members feel ‘incomplete’ if they cannot speak in tongues.

Oh! You don’t have the Holy Spirit in you-

I remember a true life story a friend once shared with me. After a program that was organized and facilitated by ‘ministers of God’, one of the facilitators (a Nigerian) was asked why he didn’t speak in tongues- they wondered- didn’t he have the Holy Spirit? After much defensive arguing, the other facilitators began to pray for him to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit whose evidence was in the speaking of tongues; when this man noticed they weren’t going to give up, he started speaking his local dialect (unknown to them). On hearing him speak in a different language, they began to praise God for they had given him the spirit of tongues.

  • What God does not give you, man cannot!
  • Isn’t it funny how people think ‘speaking in tongues’ and ‘saying things you don’t understand’ are synonymous?- Sst
  • Hypocrisy and mediocrity become your bedspread when you don’t allow God to use you, but use yourself for God- Sst
  • Only God can give you a discerning spirit. This is missed when your will is not in line with God’s will- Sst

THE IDEAL-

26 What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God.

29 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. 30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. 31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 32 The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. 33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.’-1st Corinthians 14:26-33 Niv

‘If you won’t play by these rules, God cannot use you’- 1st Corinthians 14:37-38 Msg

‘Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way’. – 1st Corinthians 14 39-40

‘Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed–not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence–continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling’.- Philippians 2:12

Speaking in tongues is not an immunity to sin, neither is it a proof of a higher calling of purity. Walk your faith with the grace of God to His glory, not to the pleasing of the population of your congregation. Desire and accept the Holy Spirit. Never do His work with his walk in your life.

Remember the disciples spoke in tongues as the Spirit prompted/enabled them and not as they prompted or enabled the Spirit- Acts 2:4

God’s grace upon you with love,

Do You Not Care???

image

Mark  4:38- And he they said to Him, do you not care that we are perishing-

Do you not care that I’m drowning?
Do you not care what great temptation I’m facing?
Do you not care my family’s condition?
Do you not care about the challenges this life is presenting to me and my friends?
Do you not care how lonely, alone, not special and insignificant I feel?
Do you not care about —— and about —— (fill that in with your own situations)
Do you not care???

There are two things that come to mind when I think about this scripture:
1) The 1st thing that captured my attention as I studied this scripture was the question; Do You Not Care? This was a direct question, a statement implying that the person being asked was very much in the same situation as the persons asking. It showed that Jesus ( though he never sleeps nor slumber was taking a nap through the storm; Palsm 121:4) was very much present. This brings to mind something about a student’s favorite teacher keeping quiet during a test of which his help the student would have appreciated.

2) The second thing that captured my attention was the realisation of who to look up too immediately there was trouble. If you read down from vs 36- of mark 4 to 38 which is our text for today, you will notice that it wasn’t just one boat that was present in the storm, meaning there were at least 2 other people in that Place At that point in time. This leaves me asking; who do you call when you are perishing?  Do you remember your parent’s connections? Do you remember your friends influence?  Or your pastor’s strong choice of words when praying?  Because when I read this scripture, i saw people that looked up to Jesus, “the author and finisher of our faith”. Who do you look up to when you are perishing? Because, trust me, if you look up to man, you will be gambling with disappointments. This brings me to the scripture that says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”- Matthew 11:28.
                                                                                     The Message
Trust the Master, nothing in this life happens by accident. If God lets you go through something,  it’s because He is ready to help you get through it. If Jesus had stopped the storm before it started on that day, the people wouldn’t necessarily have learnt the importance and power found in depending in Christ. Jesus taught them that in His presence, so that when He returns to His glory in Heaven, they disciples wouldn’t be perplexed or compelled to panic in the face of challenges; as the name above all names, to which every situaton must bow down and answer to is available to them- They called on Jesus in Vs 39… “HUSH NOW, BE STILL!!! And the wind ceased… and there was a great calm…”
When you are in some of the listed situations in my introduction and even much more, however you case might be, God wants you to call on Him and not the other way around resulting to panicking that God is unfaithful to allow you go through this instead of someone else ( probably that your neighbor that is more of a sinner than you are). God wants you to call on Him because ” …I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son”.
It is important to note that God always answers immediately you ask, however, the answer Only comes when you are ready ( not when you THINK you are ready), which is always in line with His master plan. Therefore the answers come as such:

1) Immediately- This happens to increase your faith as seen in the implication of the questions He asked in vs 40.

2) Delayed- This happens to increase your patience.  Hannah as seen in 1 Samuel 1, prayed for a child. After a while God remembered Her ( the question is, Can God Forget? Certainly not!!! He had answered her from day one. But that He might increase her patience thus teaching her to understand how useful the child to be was going to be to Him, He waited until the right time and in that time He remembered what must be done in His master plan by reason of the humble prayer of a crying Hannah in her days of perishing.

3) He does not answer what you Think you need but gives you what He Knows you need, and when you need it; which is always greater and better than your original request. Numbers 23:19 says “God is not a man that He should lie” and “no good thing will He withhold from the blameless-” Psalm 84:11.  So for a fact, when you ask for A- (which is a good thing), and He doesn’t give you, it is naturally human nature to assume God does not like you and is not following His Word, since He is allowing you to perish… But because He has better plans for you, He waits and when the time is right, He gives you B-
Any honest man here will testify with me that anyone who has ever endured to the end will know “God’s thought for us are of good and not of evil, to give us an expected end”. Take Joseph in prison  for exampele (Genesis 40-41), when the prisoner whose dream was interpreted was been released, Joseph asked him to remember him when he gets out ( the time of remembrance wasn’t told us but I won’t be out of line to state that Joseph meant immediately; because that is what I would have meant and scripture says the prisoner forgot when it got out). Now if God had allowed him to remember Joseph before the 2years in which he had; of what significance would it have been? He might not have been released (because the King which is His reason for being here did not need him yet), and even if he was released (of which he would have been very happy), since he was to rule a foreign land, it would have been more difficult and taken him a longer time in which case he could have doubted his dream or even gone back home, thinking God allowed Him to perish…
But you see, while we are IMMEDIATE,  God on the other hand is ULTIMATE and so when we Think we have our best interest at heart (Which we do, but from a limited perspective), God Knows our best interest (He is our best interest!), and gives it to us!!!

And ……………….. (insert your name, eg And …Tosin….) said to Him “Do You Not Care That I Am Perishing?
The next time you want to make that statement or ask that question; Remember,  God is on your side and He’s GOT YOUR BACK! He’s so cool even the wind obeys Him.

With love,
Olabode Oluwatosin.

You Are On Ur Own

image

The first surgery and operation was not done in the hospital but in the garden- Genesis 2:7, 21-22… If you’re waiting for God to follow earthly procedures, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!

Jesus first miracle wasn’t in the church, it was at a party- John 2:1-11… If you’re waiting to see Jesus consider what people would say before he does what is right, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!

Jesus answered every temptation with scripture- Mtthew 4:1-11… If your Christianity is to answer temptations with your wisdom or explained version of His word, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!

Jesus is Him that leaves His throne to be with those who rejected and are still rejecting Him- John 1:10-11… If you’re expecting a proud King to rule you, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!

He wasn’t moved by the outward giving of some fake people, rather the very little a honest heart brought-Luke 21:1-4… If you’re expecting Jesus to be move by anything not motive, I’m sorry to disappoint you, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!

But this is the law, the church doctrine, the relationship condition! If you go out of context, you’re such a sinner. Jesus healed on a Sabbath- Matthew 12:9-13… People spoke about and against it, what the heck??? Right is right, no matter how many people think it’s wrong and wrong is wrong, no matter how many people think its right, if you think otherwise, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!

Jesus wept- John 11:35… If you hide your emotions because you think your Master does the same, or because you think it’s a sign of weakness, THINK Again, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!

God ordered the praise team to be in front while the mighty men of battle stood behind on a journey to war – 2 Chronicles 20:21… If you’re expecting the usual physical strength to be the reason God will choose you, then, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!! I’m sorry to disappoint you, He works more with your availability than your ability.

If you are serving a God who will ask you to come to Him but keep your problems (no matter how little) to yourself- Matthew 11:28-30… Then you do not know who to serve,  YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!

The truth about this fact is this, Walking with God is as simple as you let it be. Your relationship with Christ is not to be defined by the standards of this world, but rather by the standard of God himself, using the Bible as a guide. GOD LOVES YOU, and He want you to know, IF IT TAKES YOU BEING IN THE MINORITY’s SCHOOL OF THOUGHT TO SERVE HIM, THEN IT SURE WOULD BE WORTH IT…

My charge for you today is to Walk with God’s principles and not the principles cooked up by man’s Pride, or else, YOU ARE ON UR OWN!!!

With love 4m ur very own,
Olabode Oluwatosin

Just You

image

Nothing more… Nothing less-
Just to worship
Just to praise
Just to come through your gate
Just to meet with You;
Is all i desire,
Nothing more, nothing less…

Nothing more… Nothing less-
To give you all the glory
To dwell in your beauty
To tell the world about you
To live in your power;
Is all I desire
Nothing more, nothing less…

Nothing more… Nothing less-
You are all I want
Nothing more, nothing less
Just You, you…Jesus
Nothing more, nothing less
Nothing more, nothing less
While pushing forward, I’m content,
Nothing more… Nothing less.
Once I’ve got You, I need nothing else.

Who Told YOU ?

image

“That you’re a blessing isn’t the reason you are going to make it to heaven; a smoker can bless you, a murderer can bless you, a sinner can bless you, a liar can bless you, someone with wrong motives can bless you, even the devil; to get something, can bless you, however,  that will not take them to heaven- good deeds don’t take you to heaven, Jesus does”.- SST.

Who told you being a chapel worker will take you to heaven?
Who told you winning souls will get you to heaven?
Who told you, anything in works will take you to heaven?

Studying scripture diligently,  you will come to understand that good deeds keep you in heaven if you eventually get there, good deeds offer you a reward in heaven, as your work for God isn’t left without a reward… ( Matthew 5:1-12,1 Corinthians 9:24-25, 1 Thessalonians 2:19, 2 Timothy 4:8, 1 Peter 5:4, Revelation 2:10 )…

Understand this; when your child goes to school and study’s diligently, what he gets is a reward for his faithfulness.  You see, his diligence without an EXAMINATION wouldn’t amount to much, but if however he does write the exams, then he get a reward for his work…

Therefore,
“Jesus said unto him, ‘I am the way,  the truth and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me”- John 14:6.

Jesus is WHO ( not WHAT that) takes you to heaven!!! His works through you reward you IF you eventually GET THERE.

This piece was  written for clearity- Matthew  7:21 says “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven”. The will of the Father is that “they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). This is to say that in whatsoever you do as regards making it to heaven where you can meet the Father, it should be with a right and pure motive.
Do not go to church because you think that is what God is going to consider in accepting you into His kingdom, NO! Going to church helps you know more about God and the gathering of His people can never be despised,  plus, your faith is strengthened in a real church… the same goes for everything else, “while not all good deeds are godly, all godly deeds are good deeds”. Accept Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour and then all other things will follow; do not accept all other things and expect Jesus to follow… This article doesn’t say you should stop the good works; all it says is, for you to have a good motive, understand your foundation and do not deceive yourself (at least, not any more).

Yours truly,

Olabode Oluwatosin

Jesus !!!

He’s the one for whom the world was created
Whether in heaven or on earth, or even beneath the earth
Whether principalities or powers, or even kingdoms
Whether visible or invisible
He’s the sum of all creation…

He’s the one that founded the foundation of the earth in the air
Seperated the sky from the ground without any pillar
He’s the careful one that has made us full of care
So faithful; He made us full of faith…

He paid taxes though they called him a revolutionary
He was affirmed a carpenter but he confounded scholars
Religious folks waited for  his church showcase yet
