Get God Involved

As a christian youth, i have often struggled with the idea behind understanding one’s purpose. More often than not, i’ve been perplexed with ‘why’ and ‘how’ to accomplish this purpose, even when i seemingly knew what it was.

It can really be frustrating when we do not understand why we exist, or for what purpose we live. It is therefore said that,  ‘to know the purpose of something… always ask the manufacturer’, but this has become a  cliché. This is because we always talked about it to the hearing of the manufacturer, but never to that point were he has a say in the conversation.

As a christian, i know my creator is God and his manual is the Bible, from experience, i know that it is only in getting God involved that the true  definition of our purpose can be revealed.

Get to Know God, seek him and you will find your purpose. You are already on this journey; get God involved.

God bless you

Hidden Opportunities in Critical Conditions-

Hello my awesome followers and amazing readers!
Today, I’ll be writing on a very important subject- ‘The Opportunities in critical Conditions’. God forbid that we would go through a difficult phase in our lives and make a waste of the reason we were there in the first place ( the football term for that is 2-0).

Acts 16: 16-34
The justification for the people that wanted Paul and Silas to be imprisoned is found in vs 21 NAS, and are proclaiming customs which it is not lawful for us to accept or to observe,  BEING ROMANS (compare this verse to 35-40, with key focus on 38), even though their motivation came from verse 19 NIV, when the owners of the slave girl realised that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to face the authorities.

Have you ever been in an office were everybody else wanted you ‘fired’ because you wouldn’t collect bribe? At that point, they do not care whether or not you are coworkers- all they know is that you are a stumbling block to their ‘unholy and greedy’ acts. Have you ever been at that point?
Did you notice that when they plotted their evil graphs, they tried to appeal to the conscience of the group? (they will never report you for being a honest fellow,  but will rather look for a fault so they seem selfless)
This occurs in our everyday lives- in Church – at School- in our Relationships- you name it; Everywhere. ‘He’s got to go’…. I don’t want to hear it, He’s got to go!

What do you do when in such a situation?

Do you lose your cool and be all gangster on them and miss purpose? Or
Do you for fear/favour fall prey to their devices and still miss the opportunity therein?

When for innocence, you are persecuted- what do you do? From the context of today’s message,  what should you do?

Vs 16-24 (AMP) tells us a story of a lady that was possessed by a spirit of divination (claiming to foretell future events and to discover hidden knowledge), which translated to alot of profits for those that owned her; and how Paul commanded the spirit out in the name of Jesus. There was nothing wrong with the doings of the Apostles- it was the right thing to do; even the ‘masters of the girl’ knew this for a fact- that was the major reason they couldn’t report that that was the offence the Apostles committed, and so they paraphrased the motive behind their anger to the appeal of their audience, so much so that they got the support and backing of the crowd.

Then the rulers commanded them to be thrown into prison after been beaten without trail or reason (Vs 22b-23).

Has anyone ever given up on you without the decency of a reason?
Have they thrown you into the dungeon for the guilt of their immoral conscience?

The instruction was so strict that the jailer put them in the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks (Vs 24)

If you’ve ever found yourself in such a time as this, or you know someone in situations similar or worse than this- Hold On- to the Christians suffering persecution all over the world- HOLD ON, DO NOT WAVER! remain true to who you are and do not give up on God- He still gat you- He’s got something only you can accomplish in such a place, at such a time.

We see in verse 25 (NIV) that the attitude of Paul and Silas did not change. They kept to their prayers and praises– Remember in verse 16a (NAS), it happened that as they were going to the place of prayer…. So even pro – persecution, they did not change their attitude or mindset (Isn’t it funny how we see God unfaithful anytime the going gets tough). They didn’t keep quiet because they were not in church (remember where the heart of worship is, John 4: 20-24), they knew the were the church and so whether in a physical parish or prison, they were ready to pray and praise, because they understood that the place of prayer is an opportunity to evangelise-

Vs 25b, and the other prisoners were listening to them. WOW! The prisoners weren’t just hearing them by reason of sound,  they were actually concentrating- listening to them. Wow- what a lesson!!!

What comes out of your mouth when things don’t go your way?
When instead of finding your heart desires, people trick you and push you to the limits, what do people hear coming out of your mouth as they listen to you?

Paul and Silas understood that whether in the ‘place of prayer’, or in ‘prison’- Every location is an opportunity for them to introduce somebody to meet Christ Jesus.

Asides church on Sunday, where else do people see Jesus in you?

Verse 26-34 KJV
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

In Vs 25, after Paul and Silas had communicated with God via prayer and praises, the next couple of verses explain that the jailer wanted to kill himself because his job was ‘on the line’ and subsequently his life. The bible doesn’t tell us that they couldn’t have escaped, but it records that they stayed. Two things I want us to get from this
They PHYSICALLY saved a life.
When the going gets tough and you’ve done all you can do and it seems as though you are ‘going for dead’ and an escape route shows up that is illegal- what do you do? This is a very critical situation, because, every time you take the easy way out that is illegal; a soul is lost. The reason you are were you are,  the way you are, enduring this persecution, is because somebody needs to be saved (you might not know it or even see it, but just like Paul and Silas, you are saving that jailer). When you commit to God in truth and in spirit,  He will never send an ungodly act to rescue you, He is a God of principle- He will always rescue you appropriately.
They SPIRITUALLY saved a family.
They brought a man and his family into salvation.  There is nothing as pure and real as a live lived so evidently to the glory of God. People might not be convinced about your words towards Christ, but there is no way,  that they would see you in action living and leading a Christ-like life and not be convicted about it (remember the woman at the well- the feeding of 5 thousand men? So it was with the evidence of the Christ-like life they lived, the jailer surrendered and sought after salvation- Together with his family.

Now, just imagine what would have happened if Paul and Silas had escaped…
Then, think of the jailer and his family….

Matthew 5: 10-12
Blessed and happy and enviably fortunate and spiritually prosperous (in the state in which the born-again child of God enjoys and finds satisfaction in God’s favour and salvation, regardless of his outward conditions) are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake (for being and doing right), for theirs ìs the kingdom of heaven!
Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you falsely on My account.
Be glad and supremely joyful,  for your reward in heaven is great (strong and intense), for in this same way people persecuted the prophets who were before you. (2 chronicles 36:16).

Are You At Your place Of Relevance?

Darkness is just an adjective
That cease to exist with the coming of Light.
Her entrance brings Glory,
She shines as the evidence of her presence…

‘You are the Light of the world…’
Does the world know you?
‘… a city set on the hill cannot be hid’
Are you still to the public- private?

You are relevant and needed
In the house* of your destiny.
In veiw of your purpose;
The reason you were created,
The reason you are the way you are-
You will matter 100% in that home*

This is your Light- your Life
Doing what He has called you to do.
Anything else would explain why you’re not shinning!

You are beautiful
He is beauty
You are human
Yes- He’s been human too
You are Image-
Created in the the likeness of the Father

You are Light because He remains ‘the Light’…

Just like the sun
If you are not in the appropriate point of ‘existing’
As in, the exact location,
Your consequent surrounding
Would either be too hot and burn
Or too cold and freeze

Be at your point of Relevance!

Dear Atheist-

There is no question of the existence of a Supreme Being- a Supreme Principle, every religion accepts that- even Science (only the names differ); whom this Being is, is usually the bone of contention.

Dear Atheist- Free Thinkers

…Ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit
then read the Bible
but while at it, allow the Holy Spirit direct you
then and only then…

You know I like you, yea?
I will give you an advice- I’m probably younger than you, so you don’t have to take it to heart…

Here’s the thing,

Stop being foolish!

You are intellectually sound, an advanced breed of the Homo sapiens Species. One who’s hard work and quest for knowledge outstrips all contradictions- this is just to say, you are Human by the way,- like that ‘dumb ass’ believing in an invisible Being.

Are you really that dull? Like serious? Are you?
Because, unlike the guy believing in an invisible being, you do not obey protocols- you do not follow procedures and still expect to get the same results as though you did…

Far be it that I am writing this to impose a doctrine on you- it is honestly not my choice to make, whether you follow procedures or not. I am however here to clearly state that in such cases whereby you do things differently, you shouldn’t be shocked or even surprised when you get a different result- you should actually accept it.

I recently went to buy a car. I met with the CEO of the company and after he instructed me on how to operate the vehicle, showing me steps in the manual, esp. the part that talks about how you start the car. I collected the car keys and placed it in the exhaust- turned it on, but the car wouldn’t just work. It just wouldn’t start. Considering I’m in my 20s and I’ve seen more cars move than I can count; I knew fully well that when you kick start a car, it is suppose to start, so I confidently  went into the CEO’s office- ‘bashing’ him with my quarries as to why a brand new car wouldn’t work- it’s pretty messed up, isn’t it?

I mean you guys would agree with me, yea?

Then I woke up from my car buying dream- here is my point though…

Let’s look at some books in the Bible…

The Bible- the same Book a lot of atheist I have encountered never forget to remind me is ‘full of crap’, ‘inconsistent’, ‘fake’, yada, yada, yada… the bottom line been, the Supreme Being- God, does not exist- He’s to invisible to be Possible.

….’ All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17) that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

-2nd Timothy 3:16-17

14) But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15) But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.

-1st Corinthians 2:14-15

26) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.)

-John 14:26-27

So let me ask you ‘Mr Smart one’, if you can’t follow a simple procedure laid down by an authority, how dare you then question this same authority?

What cannot be disproved should never be questioned.

It’s like building a house, but wanting to start from the roof- it makes no sense.

Dear Atheist,

Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, but it’s rather useless and makes you foolish if it’s baseless. There is a path to life and it is not an accident. The Bible has a procedure to understanding it, it was inspired by a Devine Being and so must be followed in His way or else, abuse and misinterpretations are inevitable.

An advice to you, my dear fellow that I like…
I’m probably younger than you, so you don’t have to take it to heart- you are probably smarter, so you don’t have to listen…
Oh, but I pray you would.

Ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit
then read the bible
but while at it, allow the Holy Spirit direct you
then and only then would you be allowed to discredit the Bible- until then, don’t ever tell me again that you know the bible more than me, because it is no longer I that live, but Christ that lives in me (Galatians 2; 20), Christ in me is the hope of glory. (Colossians 1-27).

NB: Don’t worry, you would soon understand.

What do you have to lose doing the right thing, the right way, to get the right result???

Don’t You Dare!

BEBEJOfotography 08067598331

‘Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it…. there is only one Law-giver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you- who are you to judge your neighbour?’ – James 4:11-12.

Don’t You Dare!

Don’t you dare judge me;
you’ve no idea what I’ve been through.
Don’t you dare judge me;
you have no idea who I would become
to conclude on my present.
Don’t you dare,
don’t you dare judge me…

This stigma has eaten us deep enough. People need to stop feeling better than us even if they think they are. We all need to stop intimidating others by reason of the grace (through Christ) that we’ve attained; this grace that others do not have the knowledge of yet. Without complete knowledge or absolute understanding- they need to stop condemning me, no matter how bad I’ve become, for even Christ himself, never came to condemn me (John 3:17), though He is our Chief Judge (Psalm 96:13, Ezekiel 18:30, 1 Peter 1:17).

‘Do not judge or you too will be judged… you hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eyes, and then you will be able to see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eyes…’
Matthew 7:1-5

‘You therefore have no excuse, you who pass judgement on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself… so when you, a mere man pass judgement on them and yet do the same things, do you think you would escape God’s judgement?…’
Romans 2:1-5

We are asked to ‘examine ourselves to see whether we are in the faith. To test ourselves’ to realize Christ is in us (2 Corinthians 13:5). If Christ is in us, then we are a representation of Him here on earth. This implies that our actions as Christ-like people, Christians and God’s creation; should be in line with the Image and Person of Christ Jesus.

‘Do not judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you would be forgiven’– Luke 6:37

‘For (even) God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world though him’- John 3:17

The concept of judging entails having a strong opinion about something- trying to evaluate that thing. To be able to accomplish this task one would need to be on the absolute- So as to gain total understanding of all perspectives and motive.

Now, because man is limited by reason of knowledge- only God is fit to judge the heart of man. However, man is allowed to judge the character of man, for by this; we are absolute by the word of God- the living word of God.
(1 Corinthians 6: 2, 4-5, 2: 15)

In doing the above, we judge (rebuke, correct) the sinfulness of man. We do not judge (condemn) the sinner. We put into perspective a careful and exact attitude of Christ (Romans 5:8). Every judgment a man makes must be backed-up by the word of God, because man judges based on preference, perception, mind-set and in totality; the knowledge he has acquired. This alone can be the foundation of all errors because like a writer puts it:

‘That you are strong in someone’s weaknesses, does not mean you are not weak in someone’s strength’– Double_ST *sst*

This is why God in His word asked us not to judge by human standards (John 8:15-18), and appearances (John 7:24, James 2:1-4). We are asked instead to be carefu,l for we judge unto the Lord (2 Chronicles 19:6). For this understanding to make meaning in our daily living, obedience to the word of God and principles is key and a necessity, as this unlocks its potentials (Zechariah 3:7, 1 King 3:9-13); for by ourselves, we can do nothing (John 5:30).

The place of judging people is in the hands of God- for he is all-knowing. We are admonished by Apostle Paul in Timothy to preach the word, be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction (2 Timothy 4:2). Nowhere- nowhere in Scripture are we asked to judge (condemn) anyone!

Food for Thought-

‘The saint and the sinner- who is more likely to make heaven? If the Saint- who then is he, but one that was once a sinner. If this is true; what then makes you so sure that this sinner too won’t make it to heaven? Not as he is off-course, but as he would be when you correct and not condemn him; thus allowing God’s grace to work in Him’- Double_ST *sst*

They will sing before the Lord
for He comes
He comes to judge the world in righteousness
and the people in his truth- Psalms 96:13.

So if you want to judge me and you are not God- DON’T YOU DARE!!!

Feel free to correct me though… God Bless.

Don’t You Think we Need to Wakeup?

You know you were once better,
You know you want to be better,
You know you need to be better,
But you know you ain’t getting any better…

You know there is a zeal,
You know you’ve broken the seal,
You know you desire to heal,
But you know you ain’t committed to the deal…

You have suddenly forgotten the communication called ‘prayer’,
You have even lost touch with patience in that area,
You worry but never work to become better,
But when you get ‘to thinking’-
you always remain bitter…

You are neither hot nor cold,
Neither here nor there,
Neither weak nor strong,
You are walking in grace-
when your life, to Him, speaks disgrace…

You could be better,  but you’re not,
Even worse- you do not know ‘where you’re not’,
You perceive and assume to be safe,
But your thoughts are far from the truth-
as the south is from the north.

If you were a better christian/believer/person,
Yesterday than today,
And your words are louder than your lifestyle,
Then, you’re in a Spiritual Coma,
In this state, the only city is known as ‘Sleep’

Spiritual Coma-
Don’t you think we need to wake up?

The Antidote!

She let herself into our room quietly and sat on the arm of the couch by the door, with her arms folded across the chest.

It was about 11:00am and I was folding some clothes scattered on the bed whilst listening to soft tunes on my phone. I knew she’d come into the room but I didn’t look up. Then she said,

“So…how much is your school fee?”

My heart skipped a beat, and then began thumping fiercely against my thoracic cage.

I sighed. I hated this question: its sound, its tone, and worse still, the answer I was about to give her…

“Six hundred and seventy-five thousand naira.”

She sighed deeply and I swore I could hear the despair in its shallow depths. Summoning courage, I looked at her. At 62, mum looked so distraught and sad that I began to wonder what her B.P was at that moment…

“Do you have to pay it before you’ll be allowed into the hostel?” She asked.

“Yes” then I added “but one must not pay the whole thing; there’s a minimal amount that can be paid this 1st semester, then the rest will be paid off next semester”, to ease her pain.

“Are you to pay into the bank or directly to the school?”

“Yes, I have a customized teller from the school.”

“So, when are you going back?” she asked, as she rubbed her cheek absent-mindedly.

“This weekend, by God’s grace.” I replied

“This weekend…” she muttered.

“O.k.” then she left the room, slowly.

This was a scene that played each time I had to resume school for a new session or semester. It was my 7th semester in school, yet I hadn’t gotten used to the scene and the emotions it provoked in me. Each episode hurt like a fresh wound.

Sinking down on the bed, I tried so hard to ignore the familiar emotions that erupted, to no avail. My eyes began tearing up, so I went down on my knees (so no one would disturb me) and cried uncontrollably- silent quaking sobs that shook my entire core. Father, why? Why do I have to cry my eyes out before my fees are paid? Why didn’t you provide them with jobs after their retirement so we wouldn’t have to go through this? Why is everything in my life so stagnant? Haven’t we suffered enough? Why…why…why???

As I knelt there weeping, I felt a peaceful assurance that God knew everything going on and that He had a plan for my life and He’ll provide my needs at the right time. So I got up, wiped my face with a towel and continued my chores.

Much later, I went to the dining room to get a drink. As I walked through the sitting room, I saw my mum sitting on the sofa, with her legs crossed at the ankles, staring blankly ahead, lost in thoughts. I walked to her, rubbed her shoulder slowly and said

“Mummy, I hope you’re not thinking too much. Don’t worry, oh? God will provide.”

She smiled at me and I smiled back, and then walked into the dining room. Memories came flooding back, provoking my emotions again and causing my eyes to tear up. I bit back the tears and cautioned myself to remember God’s word and to trust in him ‘cause he’s got it all planned out. Then I sank into the rich depths of my thoughts were I found solace.

Ever since my dad retired (while I was in JSS2) and everything seemed to go downhill, I had made ‘thinking’ my faithful companion. Wait a sec! It’s not the kinda thinking that shoots up the B.P.  No, it’s that kind which lifts your mind’s eye above the dilapidated state you’re in and makes you behold a brighter future, a beam of light at the end of a dark tunnel…

Yeah, that’s the kind I’m talking about!

So, for every situation I go through that tends to weigh me down, my mind forms thoughts that neutralize its destructive effect and restores peace, serenity and stability. It’s like a buffer!

Each time my parents tell me that there’s no money, I think of the time when I’d be a Doctor and send them money regularly so that they’d live in priceless comfort.

Each time I see my mum trekking home from church or taking a bike to the market, I remember what she told me few years ago. She had said “see, I’m not asking for so much. When you start working, I just want you to buy me a small Jeep; small, because I won’t have to carry any of you.” And now I think of the time when I’ll get her a brand new one.

Each time I see a tear in my parents’ clothing, I think of the time when my siblings and I would order for the richest garments from different parts of the world and have it delivered to them.

Each time I hear my siblings talk about their travails, I think of the time when they’d be experts, of world renown, in their chosen careers.

Each time I fail to answer a question in class or realize that I’m ignorant of the answer to a question asked, I think of the time when, as a lecturer in a Medical school, I’d strive to help academically-weak students.

Each time I’m hungry and broke, I think of the time when I’d visit my children (or my nieces and nephews) in school and take them out to eat. I think of how I wouldn’t want them to lack a dime.

Each time I look at my closet and the few clothes in it and I see my friends with their boxes of cloths, I think of the time when I’d design and make my own clothes to the admiration of all.

Each time I look at my spiritual life in its state of despair, I envision a time when I’d be so close to God that I’ll draw my every breath and word from him and hear him call me ‘Son..’ not just ‘my child’.

And each time I think that I may not pass or even write the 2ND MB, I envision myself as a world-renowned poet, writer, research specialist and Oncologist.

Don’t get me wrong; thinking doesn’t solve my problems. It’s something I indulge in to soothe my aching heart- like a Chinese balm. It reminds me of the fact that God sees, knows and has got a plan, and that despite the situation now, there’s a brighter day ahead. I believe everyone has a way of handling life’s situations- a balm that soothes the delicate core of man. It may be singing, dancing, reading God’s word, recounting his past works and his promises…it varies greatly but mine is in the golden depths of my thoughts.

But then, I don’t just think; I pray and work towards it.

Thinking is my ‘Le Chatelier’s principle’…THE ANTIDOTE.

Identity- WHO ARE YOU?

‘No matter how old (or long) a ‘man’ is (or has lived), without an identity; he is yet to exist’-Sst

Every ‘man’ needs an identity. He needs a name. He needs somewhere to belong. He needs to know who he is…

Have you been called a failure?

Have they told you, you are not good enough?

Have you been called useless?

Or are you like Jacob a ‘Trickster’?

You are not just industrious

You are so classless

You are a bastard child

You are a man without purpose

You are not who the world (devil and sinful people) says you are. You are who God says you are

Have you grown to believe what people said about you- that you just ain’t good enough?

Have you grown to believe the lies others told you- that you will never be better than the present state of your life?

Has your life now become this lie?

Have you believed so much, you are now the lie, such that,

You keep failing

You can’t keep a relationship

You con your way to success

You have become the definition of F.A.K.E

You might have done what people said you did but you are never what people say you are

To understand your identity, you must look to God to reveal. Your identity can only be found in Christ, and in His Word. Here are a few things He’s said about you:

You are born of God… 1 John 5:18

You are fearfully and wonderfully made…Psalm 139:14

You are alive with Christ… Ephesians 2:5

You have the peace of God…Philippians 4:7

You have been set free… Galatians 5:1

You are more than a conqueror… Romans 8:37

You are an overcomer… Revelation 2:11

You are an ambassador… 2 Corinthians 5:20

You are a citizen of a holy nation… Exodus 19:6

You are a chosen generation… 1 Peter 2:9

You are a friend of God… John 15:15

You are the head and not the tail…Deuteronomy 28:13

You are God’s temple… 1 Corinthians 6:19

You are blessed… Ephesians 1:3

You are a peculiar treasure… Exodus 19:5

You are created in the image of God… Genesis 1:27

You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you… Philippians 4:13

You are a son of the Most High God. You have been purchased by the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. You are a joint heir with Christ- a priest of the King of kings. There’s greatness in your bones and in your bloodline… Galatians 4:6-7

Dear Lord, please ‘help me to see me the way you see me. I see where I am, but you see where I shall be’.

What is your identity? What’s that thing that makes you recognizable?
