Wait on the Lord

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.

Isaiah 40:31

Waiting does not necessarily mean staying in one place, from the above scripture, waiting is an action word. The bible verse says, they “shall renew their strength”… waiting does not get you tired if you take it as a noun, but because it is a verb, after the act, your strength must be renewed. Renewed in this context is not just to refresh one’s strength, but an exchange of a person’s strength; as in this case, the Lord’s strength for the individual waiting upon Him. If ever one is to have his strength renewed, then he must wait upon the Lord and nothing else; “but they…”implies that this principle will only be applicable to those within this context. To rely on God allows you infinite access to His strength.

In waiting, you show that you’ve at least enough trust in whom you are waiting on, as the very act of waiting shows you are expectant and have a significant amount of trust that you will not be disappointed. Waiting entails hoping on, looking up too, expecting. In waiting on the Lord, your strength is changed into His and the spirit of endurance is granted unto you. Because waiting on the Lord isn’t passive; your soul, your mind, your body and in general, your entire being must be put into perspective.

Waiting on the Lord means you are actively involved in the understanding of his Word, which allows him to bless you, as stated in Psalm 37:34.

Waiting on the Lord means you are productive in thinking, which allows Him to teach you His truth, as seen in Psalm 25:5.

Waiting on the Lord means you have accepted a single truth and you’re ready to stand firm in it. This allows answers to your prayers; the process of waiting on the Lord allows you to exercise your godly attributes and qualities. Waiting on the Lord for whatsoever might be your case, means you do not lose faith (as that is when it is acted on the most). It also implies that you exercise the spiritual truth written in scripture as regards that situation and he will never disappoint you nor allow you grow weary or faint.

We live in a generation that wants everything now; instant pleasure, instant gratification and immediate significance. Today’s study scripture is a very powerful one as it goes against human believes and the world’s system. It is a tough concept and that is why the benefits there after fall only on those that wait upon the Lord. If you will be obedient to this truth; you “shall mount up with wings as eagles”; reaching high heights without losing sight and soaring to the greatness of God Himself (Ephesians 2:6),“you shall run, and not be weary”; looking up to Jesus the author and finisher of your faith, in whom you can join at the right hand of God (Hebrews 12:1-2), “and you shall walk, and not faint”; because you’ve received Christ and you are in a good place for an eternal walk (Colossians 2:6).

Are you waiting on the Lord for something? Then you must quit worrying and start living in the truth of God’s words as regards that situation because waiting on the Lord is never passive.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”

Taking Jesus to the World- PART 1

                                  ( a study of Revelation 3:14-22)

It starts with YOU…
You’ve got to have Him to be able to take Him to the world.
You’ve got to open all doors for Him to be able to work well with you.
You’ve got to be consistent and trustworthy;
He is a Spirt Being, not your luggage- so when you’ve got Him, He’s not something you just drop and pick anytime; anywhere you go, He goes. Whosoever you meet, He meets…

                                          Revelation 3: 14-22

14.

THESE ARE THE WORDS OF AMEN!
The words of a confirmed Seal- (His words are yea and amen- 2nd Corithians 1:20)- God’s yes- THE FAITHFUL, TRUE WITNESS, THE RULER OF GOD’S CREATION.
In other words, these words you are about to hear are without contradiction (Hebrew 7:7a)- they are absolutely true…. no doubt!

15.

I KNOW YOUR DEEDS- your works are ever before me- your deepest secrets are before me. What the world does not know and must not know about you, are before me- your fears, your struggles…. I know your deeds THAT YOU’RE NEITHER COLD NOR HOT.
When I compare you in these hidden moments (our lives from sunday afternoon to Saturday night) with you, on your worship days ( visible days like sunday service…. Wednesday revival, etc)… I cannot say- I cannot say…
I see a hand lifted (meant to be holy) in worship and that same hand’s fingers in places it was never suppose to be just last night… is He mine… is he not? I WISH YOU WERE EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER!
Sitting on the fence saves nonody… unless you accept that you are wearing blue; you cannot change the cloth to purple which is the themed colour. If you think you are ‘saved’, you would never work towards salvation. But once you get an understanding of were you stand, you would know what to do- what to accept. I WISH- God wishes we were for Him, or at the very least, against Him, for In that case, He would make sense when He approaches us. What does a ‘saved’ person need salvation for? He wouldn’t sound  stupid… we all need to check ourselves- are we not there yet, because we’re in the working process, or is it because we think we are already there? We need to evaluate ourselves- where do I- where do I stand?

16.

I never knew you (Matthew7:23)- even though to you, you were righteous, you went about seemingly doing the great commission- you supposedly claim to know me, I never knew you. For this reason, not everyone that calls me Lord Lord will inherit my kingdom (Matthew 7:21). SO BECAUSE YOU ARE LUKEWARM- NEITHER HOT NOR COLD- I AM GOING TO SPIT YOU OUT OF MY MOUTH.

17.

YOU SAY I AM RICH… but I did good- preached the gospel- came to church and I’m even a worker- ok, I’m not a worker, but at least, I’m a member of the congregation- I gave money to the poor- i evangelise… I HAVE ACQUIRED WEALTH AND DO NOT NEED A THING.
Ssshhh…Stop there!
DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT YOU’RE WRETCHED, PITIFUL… lets be honest, aren’t you pitiful? Those weaknesses that you wouldn’t let go- the one no one is aware of,  the one you have not handed over to God, aren’t you shameful of them- the fact that you cannot preach to someone (unless you lie) because you are also guilty of that thing- isn’t that a thing of shame- the fact that you have to open your mouth to say ‘I am a christian’ because people cannot see it in your life- isn’t it a pity? Acts 11:26b they people were CALLED christians… in those moments of weaknesses, when feeling among syndrome sets in,  peer pressure… are you not wretched? POOR, BLIND AND NAKED.

18.

I COUNSEL YOU… Advice, admonish, request…
My God…Jesus is so so cool…. His calm Spirit- the gift of the Holy Spirit is ever present to counsel and advice us on how to Do things in accordance with the guidelines of God, given to us in the Bible… I counsel you TO BUY FROM ME-
God is saying you have been buying his products in other places- they might look alike, feel alike, but they can never be the same. Every product has an original and a fake… God is saying enough of the fake- the tradition- the norms, the religious acts alone- come and get the original- the everlasting from me… SO YOU CAN BECOME RICH… SO YOU CAN COVER YOUR SHAMEFUL NAKEDNESS… SO YOU CAN SEE. So we can be complete.

19.

… BE EARNEST… Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!
It’s you I’ve been waiting for all this years-
If Jesus comes today, where will you go- where will your eyes Go- where will your mouth, your sense organs, your sex organs- where will they go? Will your character allow your personality make heaven? Jesus said ‘until His word reaches the end of the earth before He comes’ (Matthew 24:14)… has the word reached your atritude when people annoy you? Has it reached your patience at the gas station or when at the store? (Where else do you think preaching is most practical?) The problem is that, we are so carried away with verbal preaching that we forget to live it and yet, if only we knew the messages our lifestyles preach every day. THOSE WHOM I LOVE I REBUKE AND DISCIPLINE. SO BE EARNEST, AND REPENT. I tell you you these things because I love you,  so now that you know HURRY and repent, be transformed,  renew your mind,  do that, that is acceptable before God and not just man (Romans 12:2).

20.

Imagine with me for just a second- picture a school building…
that structure Represents your life.  (We are the temple of God- 1st corinthians 6:19- our body is a home- it houses God).
Now would you say because you’ve open the door at the reception, no longer see need to open the other doors? How would the student get into their various classes if the doors are locked? How will the staff get into thier offices if the doors are locked? Would you say because you have opened one door which is linked in the school structure, not open the other doors and expect school activities to run fine? Likewise our lives- which doors are still shut down from god?

HERE I AM! I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK (which door? whose door?). IF ANYONE ( alot of us read this scripture and be like, ‘ God must be talking to that sinner- yes it has to be that lady looking like a prostitute in church; if she doesn’t have anything else to wear, must she come to church? It has to be those corrupt politicans- it has to be that idiot who wouldn’t raise his hands when the pastor clearly requested of all of us to do so- it has to be this- it has to be that- YOU KNOW WHOM YOU’VE THOUGHT THIS SCRIPTURE FITS BEST- BUT NO, IT CAN’T BE ME!)
HEARS MY VOICE AND OPENS ( this is very important- it’s not just about hearing, you must open to be significant! What seperates you from from a pagan is your ability to Open that door for God to enter, not just your ability to hear- hearing takes going to church, amongst other things- who doesn’t these days- Opening on the other hand, takes going to Jesus- big difference)
THE DOOR, I WILL COME IN ( draw near to me and I’ll draw Near to you (James 4:8)- draw your weaknesses to me, cast your burden upon me (1st Peter 5:7) and I will handle them for you and I will cast me cares upon you- Matthew 11:29-30)
AND DINE WITH HIM, AND HE WITH ME.
Are there still doors in your life you have not yet been able to let God in for whatsoever reason?

A man is married to 1 wife but has a girlfriend(side chick) outside. The fact that he does not take his ‘side chick’ home or to important family related functions, doesn’t mean she doesn’t exist- in fact, she is only not significant enough in that setup- because such a man, in the ‘company of like minds- flirts’, would rather go with his side chick than his wife. Here’s the thing- as the husband in the representation of your life- who is Jesus? Is He a wife on sunday and on other worship days but a side chick when you’re out with your friends, who is Jesus when you’re alone– when trials and temptations set in? Who is He when opportunities and big businesses knock? Isn’t He a wife that limits you and puts you in a box, or is He your ‘side chick’ that allows you do any and everything to her-
When we limit Jesus to just a ‘side chick’ in our lives; we become people-pleasers, instead of God-pleasers, YET, all in the name of God- how ironic!!!

Verse 20 does not say God is speaking to sinners (though inclusive) as many of us have selfishly misinterpreted- but to anyone who needs to hear- as much to sinners, as it is to Saints
Untill your whole life- body, soul and spirit is surrendered to Jesus, you cannot encourage others to do the same.
For instance, until you open the door for God to handle your backbiting, abusive and gossiping mouth as much as you have with your eyes, you cannot fully take Jesus To the world, so that you’re not watching porn doesn’t mean you cannot go to hell for lying about somebody! And how do you tell someone that knows you’re a liar that watching porn is bad? Wouldn’t he think you a liar…

Taking Jesus to the world means Matthew 28:18-20 (as we would study in Part 2).
We are asked to go into the World- not into parts of the world.
Now, if you are intending to go into the whole world,  wouldn’t it be better and make more sense to go with your whole life?
Or you are ok with the tradition- sunday tablets like radio stations?
Are you a part time christian?
Are you sure your Christianity is not just you acting when it is convenient?
Taking Jesus to the world begins with you OPENING that door- those doors God is still knocking at-

Why not begin to pray for grace to let go and let God…
I encourage you to Open that door today….

21-22.

TO HIM WHO OVEEPRCOMES, I WILL GIVE THE RIGHT TO SIT WITH ME ON MY THRONE, JUST AS I OVERCAME AND SAT DOWN WITH MY FATHER ON HIS THRONE. HE WHO HAS EAR, LET HIM HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT SAYS TO THE CHURCHES‘- Your church- you as the church.

Stubbornness does not pay-
he who has ear
Let him hear

Take Jesus into your life
And you wouldn’t have
Problems taking Him to the world.

If you struggle
You are only taking
The ‘knowledge of Jesus you know’
And not Jesus to the world.

With love

Part 2, coming soon!

Dear Atheist-

20150805093546766

There is no question of the existence of a Supreme Being- a Supreme Principle, every religion accepts that- even Science (only the names differ); whom this Being is, is usually the bone of contention.

Dear Atheist- Free Thinkers

…Ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit
then read the Bible
but while at it, allow the Holy Spirit direct you
then and only then…

You know I like you, yea?
I will give you an advice- I’m probably younger than you, so you don’t have to take it to heart…

Here’s the thing,

Stop being foolish!

You are intellectually sound, an advanced breed of the Homo sapiens Species. One who’s hard work and quest for knowledge outstrips all contradictions- this is just to say, you are Human by the way,- like that ‘dumb ass’ believing in an invisible Being.

Are you really that dull? Like serious? Are you?
Because, unlike the guy believing in an invisible being, you do not obey protocols- you do not follow procedures and still expect to get the same results as though you did…

Far be it that I am writing this to impose a doctrine on you- it is honestly not my choice to make, whether you follow procedures or not. I am however here to clearly state that in such cases whereby you do things differently, you shouldn’t be shocked or even surprised when you get a different result- you should actually accept it.

I recently went to buy a car. I met with the CEO of the company and after he instructed me on how to operate the vehicle, showing me steps in the manual, esp. the part that talks about how you start the car. I collected the car keys and placed it in the exhaust- turned it on, but the car wouldn’t just work. It just wouldn’t start. Considering I’m in my 20s and I’ve seen more cars move than I can count; I knew fully well that when you kick start a car, it is suppose to start, so I confidently  went into the CEO’s office- ‘bashing’ him with my quarries as to why a brand new car wouldn’t work- it’s pretty messed up, isn’t it?

I mean you guys would agree with me, yea?

Then I woke up from my car buying dream- here is my point though…

Let’s look at some books in the Bible…

The Bible- the same Book a lot of atheist I have encountered never forget to remind me is ‘full of crap’, ‘inconsistent’, ‘fake’, yada, yada, yada… the bottom line been, the Supreme Being- God, does not exist- He’s to invisible to be Possible.

….’ All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17) that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

-2nd Timothy 3:16-17

14) But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15) But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.

-1st Corinthians 2:14-15

26) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.)

-John 14:26-27

So let me ask you ‘Mr Smart one’, if you can’t follow a simple procedure laid down by an authority, how dare you then question this same authority?

What cannot be disproved should never be questioned.

It’s like building a house, but wanting to start from the roof- it makes no sense.

Dear Atheist,

Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, but it’s rather useless and makes you foolish if it’s baseless. There is a path to life and it is not an accident. The Bible has a procedure to understanding it, it was inspired by a Devine Being and so must be followed in His way or else, abuse and misinterpretations are inevitable.

An advice to you, my dear fellow that I like…
I’m probably younger than you, so you don’t have to take it to heart- you are probably smarter, so you don’t have to listen…
Oh, but I pray you would.

Ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit
then read the bible
but while at it, allow the Holy Spirit direct you
then and only then would you be allowed to discredit the Bible- until then, don’t ever tell me again that you know the bible more than me, because it is no longer I that live, but Christ that lives in me (Galatians 2; 20), Christ in me is the hope of glory. (Colossians 1-27).

NB: Don’t worry, you would soon understand.

What do you have to lose doing the right thing, the right way, to get the right result???

Can They Really Change Who We Are?

The Unchanging Power of the Truth

A Study on Matthew 27:32-61- With a Key Focus on Verse 37

09609177-aea8-41a2-9445-10a36f703bdb-1

‘… and set up over His head His accusation written, ‘this is Jesus the king of the Jews’…”-Vs 27

From our understanding of the bible, the Jews didn’t believe and still do not believe Jesus to be the King of the Jews (the Messiah). This was even the accusation labeled against Him as scripture explains it, but why wasn’t the inscription “This is Jesus who claims to be the king of the Jews”?

Yes, in so doing they tried to mock Him, but when dealing with the Truth, whether consciously or unconsciously, even your enemies cannot deny it. It is important to note that it would have made more sense if the inscription was the latter expression because; there were people who didn’t know Jesus as King, let alone as someone who claimed to be one.

Therefore, it would only be normal for them to see Jesus and know exactly what he is guilty of- Remember, the inscriptions  are placed so that people can know what your offense is; In the case of the robbers, anyone seeing them would know they were guilty of robbery, not that the claimed to have robbed. But in the case of Jesus, as the Bible tells us, the Jews did not crucify Him because ‘He claimed to be the king’ but because ‘He is the king’. With their mouth they said and wrote it, as is recorded in verse 37…

The point is this- As seen from Vs.51-54, the truth will always come out; though delayed- it can never be denied.  When people falsely accuse you, or when people try to hold you down from the truth of who you are, learn from Jesus- hold on to God and they themselves,  will be the once to affirm to the truth of who you are.

Jesus at any point could have wanted to ‘show off’ and freed Himself from them “but for the joy set before Him, He endured till the very end”. One Key truth Christ left us with from this message is that when we find ourselves in such trying times ( of whatsoever nature), whatever decision we decide to take should always remain in the will of God and in so doing, in the very presence of our accusers,  we will be liberated.

I therefore decree and declare for you today, with the name that is above all names; that in the name of Jesus, anyone that wants to deny the glory God has placed upon your life, will be the same person to promote it in Jesus name!!!

For a clearer understanding of this prayer, here’s the story of Joseph and Esther-as seen in Genesis 37-41 and Esther 2-7, respectively

Joseph had a dream, in this dream, he was to become great- he told his brothers, and immediately,  they sort on how to bring him down (The thing is this, when God is on your side, anything else anyone does will turn out to be working for your good), but ended up leading him to his promise land. What they thought for evil, God turned it around for good!

In the story of Esther, Haman wanted to rubbish Modeciah and all the people that came to town with Esther. After a proper plan on how he was to destroy them (The thing is this, when the enemy is planning to destroy you, God is at the same time planning to bless you), Haman, himself was the one who ended up promoting Modeciah.

When the enemy is done planning; God’s blessings always come. If the enemy doesn’t repent, he will fall into that trip he set for you.

Here’s the good news and the message of the cross, the enemy can repent; that is why Christ died on the cross- To Bring Forgiveness and Hope in Salvation.

God bless you as you walk in His footsteps…

Speaking in tongues-

Having a Right Motive and Understanding- A Contextual Study on 1st Corinthians 14 as it relates to the church.

f677603e-5f54-4c04-8922-9da24bb4ffb2-1‘…It is important that everyone have access to the knowledge and love of God in the language everyone understands, than that you go off and cultivate God’s presence in a mysterious prayer language…- 1st Corinthians 14:5 (Msg)

When the Holy Spirit fell upon the Apostles, they began to speak in tongues (in a number of different languages) and the people (Parthians, Medes, Elamites; visitors from Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene; immigrants from Rome, both Jews and proselytes; Cretans and Arabs) understood them according to his/her tribe (Acts 2:1-11 Msg).

Speaking in tongues is a sign for unbelievers (1st Corinthians 14:22 Msg). I would like to believe that when the disciples spoke, Jewish people were around also (yes they were) – if they spoke in other tongues, how is it that even their people understood? What if they wouldn’t have understood?

The only time speaking in tongues to the public (Church) is significant, is when there is an interpreter as the Holy Spirit did in the time of the Apostles. This is because if you speak in a way no one understands, what’s the point of opening your mouth’? (1st Corinthians 14:9 Msg)

‘He who speaks in tongues edifies himself… unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified’- (1st Corinthians 14:4-5 Niv).

Don’t get me wrong- Speaking in tongues is a beautiful experience God has allowed us share with Him and even Apostle Paul who wrote to the Corinthians affirmed to the wonderful intimacy it provides us with God (1st Corinthians 14:18 Msg). However, my point is this; ‘since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church- (1st Corinthians 14:12 Niv)

THE ABUSE-

Isn’t it funny how people think ‘speaking in tongues’ and ‘saying things you don’t understand’ are synonymous?- Sst

And so they open their mouths in church to speak ten thousand words that sound like gibberish, rather than speak five that everyone will understand’-1st Corinthians 14:19 Msg (paraphrased).

The value and beauty of speaking in tongues has been nullified to a very large extend by people who have adapted the world system of ‘wanting to feel among’ and unfortunately the church isn’t doing much about it; some new ministries even promote this directly or indirectly. What are you as a pastor or child of God doing about this?

In those days, people believed the size of your bible is the size of your anointing and so you see pastors and ‘strong men of God’ with huge bibles. People with little bibles on the other hand were always looked down upon; and so everyone wanted a big bible, just so, they too can feel among. Do you remember those days?

Don’t get me wrong- MOTIVE… motive is the foundation of everything penned down today, so unless you are guilty, don’t feel the guilt!

People these days go to the extent of learning and memorizing how to speak in tongues, word for word from what they heard from their Pastors/Ministers. This is partly because churches (new generational churches) sometimes make members feel ‘incomplete’ if they cannot speak in tongues.

Oh! You don’t have the Holy Spirit in you-

I remember a true life story a friend once shared with me. After a program that was organized and facilitated by ‘ministers of God’, one of the facilitators (a Nigerian) was asked why he didn’t speak in tongues- they wondered- didn’t he have the Holy Spirit? After much defensive arguing, the other facilitators began to pray for him to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit whose evidence was in the speaking of tongues; when this man noticed they weren’t going to give up, he started speaking his local dialect (unknown to them). On hearing him speak in a different language, they began to praise God for they had given him the spirit of tongues.

  • What God does not give you, man cannot!
  • Isn’t it funny how people think ‘speaking in tongues’ and ‘saying things you don’t understand’ are synonymous?- Sst
  • Hypocrisy and mediocrity become your bedspread when you don’t allow God to use you, but use yourself for God- Sst
  • Only God can give you a discerning spirit. This is missed when your will is not in line with God’s will- Sst

THE IDEAL-

26 What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God.

29 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. 30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. 31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 32 The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. 33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.’-1st Corinthians 14:26-33 Niv

‘If you won’t play by these rules, God cannot use you’- 1st Corinthians 14:37-38 Msg

‘Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way’. – 1st Corinthians 14 39-40

‘Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed–not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence–continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling’.- Philippians 2:12

Speaking in tongues is not an immunity to sin, neither is it a proof of a higher calling of purity. Walk your faith with the grace of God to His glory, not to the pleasing of the population of your congregation. Desire and accept the Holy Spirit. Never do His work with his walk in your life.

Remember the disciples spoke in tongues as the Spirit prompted/enabled them and not as they prompted or enabled the Spirit- Acts 2:4

God’s grace upon you with love,

Identity- WHO ARE YOU?

2d8f12ec-a21f-4586-b57d-71641bc2885f-1

‘No matter how old (or long) a ‘man’ is (or has lived), without an identity; he is yet to exist’-Sst

Every ‘man’ needs an identity. He needs a name. He needs somewhere to belong. He needs to know who he is…

Have you been called a failure?

Have they told you, you are not good enough?

Have you been called useless?

Or are you like Jacob a ‘Trickster’?

………..

You are not just industrious

You are so classless

You are a bastard child

You are a man without purpose

You are not who the world (devil and sinful people) says you are. You are who God says you are

Have you grown to believe what people said about you- that you just ain’t good enough?

Have you grown to believe the lies others told you- that you will never be better than the present state of your life?

Has your life now become this lie?

Have you believed so much, you are now the lie, such that,

You keep failing

You can’t keep a relationship

You con your way to success

You have become the definition of F.A.K.E

You might have done what people said you did but you are never what people say you are

To understand your identity, you must look to God to reveal. Your identity can only be found in Christ, and in His Word. Here are a few things He’s said about you:

You are born of God… 1 John 5:18

You are fearfully and wonderfully made…Psalm 139:14

You are alive with Christ… Ephesians 2:5

You have the peace of God…Philippians 4:7

You have been set free… Galatians 5:1

You are more than a conqueror… Romans 8:37

You are an overcomer… Revelation 2:11

You are an ambassador… 2 Corinthians 5:20

You are a citizen of a holy nation… Exodus 19:6

You are a chosen generation… 1 Peter 2:9

You are a friend of God… John 15:15

You are the head and not the tail…Deuteronomy 28:13

You are God’s temple… 1 Corinthians 6:19

You are blessed… Ephesians 1:3

You are a peculiar treasure… Exodus 19:5

You are created in the image of God… Genesis 1:27

You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you… Philippians 4:13

You are a son of the Most High God. You have been purchased by the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. You are a joint heir with Christ- a priest of the King of kings. There’s greatness in your bones and in your bloodline… Galatians 4:6-7

PRAYER-

Dear Lord, please ‘help me to see me the way you see me. I see where I am, but you see where I shall be’.

What is your identity? What’s that thing that makes you recognizable?

Eating as Worship!

image

A study of Genesis 2:8-17

I’m hungry-
… If heaven were an eatery and she’s taking orders; I would have one plate of praise, two spoons of thanksgiving and a bottle of prayer to go with it. Kindly serve it while it is still worship because only then can the satisfaction be given to God…

Genesis 2:8-17
“And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.  And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;   And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is
Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die”.

Genesis 2:8-17
My first line “I’M HUNGRY” would better have been put as “I HAVE NOT EATEN”, because vs 8 of Gen 2 says before he put the feeling of hunger, he had already put food; before he asked you to worship him, he had already created the worship to which you will use to praise him. It says “And the LORD God planted a garden (where the fruit to be eaten will come from) eastward in Eden; and there he put the man (the person for whom the fruits were made) whom he had formed.

Vs 9 “And out of the GROUND made the LORD God to GROW every TREE that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil”. Remember vs 7 of this same Gen 2, ” And the Lord God FORMED MAN of the dust of the GROUND, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul”. This really shows the greatness of God; whatever you hunger for, is actually the same thing you were created from (l’m talking to those that have said Yes to Jesus ).

Again vs 9b says, the tree of life was also in the midst of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (this is were those that haven’t said Yes to Jesus come in). It was important to differentiate this because whatever you hunger for is what you were created from; that’s why the desire and work always match (for instance, someone with absolute passion for sports, cannot be found more hungry for politics…). It is possible to hunger for the things of the world and the lust of the flesh, but does this mean you were created from lust? Or the things of the world? NO! But it does mean you eat from them ( that is why giving your life to Christ is important). This hunger comes with great benefits…

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled”. Matthew 5:6 … So for you to be eating worship, you must have been created from worship (God) and for worship.

Vs 10- When the hunger is in the correct place, you will know because true hunger comes without you being thirsty ( thirst used here in the context
that the most important material required for the growth of your food, as in this case worship, will be provided). As against the wrong hunger in which you have to look for what will keep the hunger and what will keep the food as well, as it says “… A river went out of eden to water the garden!”

Vs 11-14 talks about how good the material that aided the growth were; what aids the growth of your worship? For clarity, worship is not just a song sang, but a life we live and it’s in this context that I’ve been speaking….
“Figure out what will please Christ and then do it,”- Ephesians 5:10 msg… What pleases God is worship (because those that worship in truth and spirit offer an acceptable service unto him, John 4:23-24 ). So therefore, anything a person does that glorifies God and makes him happy is a form of worship. Since we had water springing forth from the four corners of the garden to help in the growth of the fruits, we are going to study four materials meant for watering our worship, they are:
The Bible, Praise, Prayer and Lifestyle.

The Bible
This is God himself (John 1:1 ). In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. It’s important to remind us that God honors his word over his name, because while his names are what we think of him which is even the least of who he is (little wonder in Exodus 3:14 , he said I AM THAT I AM is my name, which means anything beyond great could be attributed to him), the word can be honored more because he’s the word, remember John 1:14 , “And the word became flesh and dwelt among us…”, WE ALL KNOW, only God in the form of his son Jesus became flesh. So with this stated, what other form of worship growth stimulator could a person ask for than THE BIBLE ( Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth)! The rules on how to eat worship are clearly and boldly written there.

Praise
God inhabits the praises of his people (Psalm 22:3 ) . The presence of God is the greatest form of worship one can give to God. His coming down to join you in worshiping him cannot be compared to anything, no wonder, when praises go up, blessings come down (a popular saying, attributed to a paraphrase from Psalms 67:5-7).

Prayer
This is a means of communication with God. During this process, you talk to God and he talks back to you. God is always happy when you give him the opportunity in your life to talk to you. David knew this so well, that’s why he spoke to God about everything thus becoming the man after God’s heart (Acts12:13 ).
“Prayer gives you an opportunity to receive feedback on your worship status with God”-SST.

Lifestyle
Christianity existed long before religion, so it’s naturally not possible for Christianity to be ONLY a religion. Remember, the people were called Christians (Acts 11:26 ), because, after a time of careful (careful because those that called them weren’t Christians themselves) observation, they people were called Christians since they behaved like Christ. It is important to note that FOR YOUR WORSHIP TO GROW, IT MUST FIRST BE ACCEPTED (that’s why John 4:23-24 , tells us how to worship). Therefore, for your lifestyle to be accepted, you must be like Christ; simply put BE CHRIST-LIKE (a christian is someone like or
in the image of Christ). This leads us back to the beginning, Gen 1:26, when God created man in his image; this is the true origin of Christianity,  so for a growth in worship which is eaten with Christ, STOP THE FALSE RELIGION ONLY CONCEPT YOU’VE BEEN TAUGHT AND START A RELATIONSHIP INCLUSIVE ERA WITH CHRIST!!!

A look at the 10 commandments will give a clearer picture into the significance of a relationship with Christ as it concerns Christianity… Exodus 20:1-17 … Vs 1-8; the first four commandments talk about a relationship between God and man, while the last six, vs 9-17, talks about a relationship between man and man. When Jesus was put to test as to which was the greatest commandment, he responded, LOVE with God
and with your neighbors all this boils down to having a relationship.

Vs 15, The Lord did not just prepare the garden and leave it, he did not just prepare worship to leave it; he said TEND and KEEP it. This is very direct, it means tend and keep worship; let it become part of you as you grow in it.

Vs 16-17, Our study doesn’t just end without a WARNING!!! Since there was already two world views when man was created, he knew that even within creation, something might go bad, so he warned to abstain from anything evil, you will certainly know its evil because the signs are usually very clear; the only reason you will be going for it will be for your own glory when all glory must be given to God (Isaiah 42:8 ). So even though
worship is large, there is a specific kind of worship He wants from us; meaning, if its not in that nature, then its not accepted. Eating as worship means being in God’s will, taking heed to his warnings and eating in a kingly manner. Phaphers you’ve been hungry (the only reason you are hungry is because you haven’t eaten), its sure time to change that
statement to… I haven’t eaten (meaning the food is there), so you can now go and eat realizing the water he will give you to quench your thirst would be eternal (John 4:14).

Know this
“When eating becomes a true act of worship, we will no longer worship food”.
“When food becomes our god, our appetite for the Bread of Life is diminished” Julie Ackerman

Do You Not Care???

image

Mark  4:38- And he they said to Him, do you not care that we are perishing-

Do you not care that I’m drowning?
Do you not care what great temptation I’m facing?
Do you not care my family’s condition?
Do you not care about the challenges this life is presenting to me and my friends?
Do you not care how lonely, alone, not special and insignificant I feel?
Do you not care about —— and about —— (fill that in with your own situations)
Do you not care???

There are two things that come to mind when I think about this scripture:
1) The 1st thing that captured my attention as I studied this scripture was the question; Do You Not Care? This was a direct question, a statement implying that the person being asked was very much in the same situation as the persons asking. It showed that Jesus ( though he never sleeps nor slumber was taking a nap through the storm; Palsm 121:4) was very much present. This brings to mind something about a student’s favorite teacher keeping quiet during a test of which his help the student would have appreciated.

2) The second thing that captured my attention was the realisation of who to look up too immediately there was trouble. If you read down from vs 36- of mark 4 to 38 which is our text for today, you will notice that it wasn’t just one boat that was present in the storm, meaning there were at least 2 other people in that Place At that point in time. This leaves me asking; who do you call when you are perishing?  Do you remember your parent’s connections? Do you remember your friends influence?  Or your pastor’s strong choice of words when praying?  Because when I read this scripture, i saw people that looked up to Jesus, “the author and finisher of our faith”. Who do you look up to when you are perishing? Because, trust me, if you look up to man, you will be gambling with disappointments. This brings me to the scripture that says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”- Matthew 11:28.
                                                                                     The Message
Trust the Master, nothing in this life happens by accident. If God lets you go through something,  it’s because He is ready to help you get through it. If Jesus had stopped the storm before it started on that day, the people wouldn’t necessarily have learnt the importance and power found in depending in Christ. Jesus taught them that in His presence, so that when He returns to His glory in Heaven, they disciples wouldn’t be perplexed or compelled to panic in the face of challenges; as the name above all names, to which every situaton must bow down and answer to is available to them- They called on Jesus in Vs 39… “HUSH NOW, BE STILL!!! And the wind ceased… and there was a great calm…”
When you are in some of the listed situations in my introduction and even much more, however you case might be, God wants you to call on Him and not the other way around resulting to panicking that God is unfaithful to allow you go through this instead of someone else ( probably that your neighbor that is more of a sinner than you are). God wants you to call on Him because ” …I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son”.
It is important to note that God always answers immediately you ask, however, the answer Only comes when you are ready ( not when you THINK you are ready), which is always in line with His master plan. Therefore the answers come as such:

1) Immediately- This happens to increase your faith as seen in the implication of the questions He asked in vs 40.

2) Delayed- This happens to increase your patience.  Hannah as seen in 1 Samuel 1, prayed for a child. After a while God remembered Her ( the question is, Can God Forget? Certainly not!!! He had answered her from day one. But that He might increase her patience thus teaching her to understand how useful the child to be was going to be to Him, He waited until the right time and in that time He remembered what must be done in His master plan by reason of the humble prayer of a crying Hannah in her days of perishing.

3) He does not answer what you Think you need but gives you what He Knows you need, and when you need it; which is always greater and better than your original request. Numbers 23:19 says “God is not a man that He should lie” and “no good thing will He withhold from the blameless-” Psalm 84:11.  So for a fact, when you ask for A- (which is a good thing), and He doesn’t give you, it is naturally human nature to assume God does not like you and is not following His Word, since He is allowing you to perish… But because He has better plans for you, He waits and when the time is right, He gives you B-
Any honest man here will testify with me that anyone who has ever endured to the end will know “God’s thought for us are of good and not of evil, to give us an expected end”. Take Joseph in prison  for exampele (Genesis 40-41), when the prisoner whose dream was interpreted was been released, Joseph asked him to remember him when he gets out ( the time of remembrance wasn’t told us but I won’t be out of line to state that Joseph meant immediately; because that is what I would have meant and scripture says the prisoner forgot when it got out). Now if God had allowed him to remember Joseph before the 2years in which he had; of what significance would it have been? He might not have been released (because the King which is His reason for being here did not need him yet), and even if he was released (of which he would have been very happy), since he was to rule a foreign land, it would have been more difficult and taken him a longer time in which case he could have doubted his dream or even gone back home, thinking God allowed Him to perish…
But you see, while we are IMMEDIATE,  God on the other hand is ULTIMATE and so when we Think we have our best interest at heart (Which we do, but from a limited perspective), God Knows our best interest (He is our best interest!), and gives it to us!!!

And ……………….. (insert your name, eg And …Tosin….) said to Him “Do You Not Care That I Am Perishing?
The next time you want to make that statement or ask that question; Remember,  God is on your side and He’s GOT YOUR BACK! He’s so cool even the wind obeys Him.

With love,

Aggressive Truth

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.
                                                                                                             Isaiah 40:31

Waiting does not mean staying in one place, from the above scripture, waiting is an action word. If ever, one is to have his strength renewed, then he must wait upon the Lord and nothing else; “but they…” implies that this principle will only be applicable to those within this context. To rely on God allows you infinite access to His strength.

In waiting, you show that you’ve at least enough trust in whom you are waiting on, as the very act of waiting shows you are expectant and have a significant amount trust that you will not be disappointed. Waiting entails hoping on, looking up too, expecting… In waiting on the Lord, your strength is changed into His and the spirit of endurance is granted unto you.

If you will be obedient to this truth; you “shall mount up with wings as eagles”; reaching high heights without losing site and soaring to the greatness of God Himself (Ephesians 2:6), “you shall run, and not be weary”; looking up to Jesus the author and finisher of your faith, in whom you can join at the right hand of God (Hebrews 12:1-2), “and you shall walk, and not faint”; because you’ve received Christ and you are in a good place for an eternal walk (Colossians 2:6).

Are you waiting on the Lord for something? Then you must quit worrying and start living in the truth of God’s words as regards that situation because waiting on Lord is never passive.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.
