Wait on the Lord

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.

Isaiah 40:31

Waiting does not necessarily mean staying in one place, from the above scripture, waiting is an action word. The bible verse says, they “shall renew their strength”… waiting does not get you tired if you take it as a noun, but because it is a verb, after the act, your strength must be renewed. Renewed in this context is not just to refresh one’s strength, but an exchange of a person’s strength; as in this case, the Lord’s strength for the individual waiting upon Him. If ever one is to have his strength renewed, then he must wait upon the Lord and nothing else; “but they…”implies that this principle will only be applicable to those within this context. To rely on God allows you infinite access to His strength.

In waiting, you show that you’ve at least enough trust in whom you are waiting on, as the very act of waiting shows you are expectant and have a significant amount of trust that you will not be disappointed. Waiting entails hoping on, looking up too, expecting. In waiting on the Lord, your strength is changed into His and the spirit of endurance is granted unto you. Because waiting on the Lord isn’t passive; your soul, your mind, your body and in general, your entire being must be put into perspective.

Waiting on the Lord means you are actively involved in the understanding of his Word, which allows him to bless you, as stated in Psalm 37:34.

Waiting on the Lord means you are productive in thinking, which allows Him to teach you His truth, as seen in Psalm 25:5.

Waiting on the Lord means you have accepted a single truth and you’re ready to stand firm in it. This allows answers to your prayers; the process of waiting on the Lord allows you to exercise your godly attributes and qualities. Waiting on the Lord for whatsoever might be your case, means you do not lose faith (as that is when it is acted on the most). It also implies that you exercise the spiritual truth written in scripture as regards that situation and he will never disappoint you nor allow you grow weary or faint.

We live in a generation that wants everything now; instant pleasure, instant gratification and immediate significance. Today’s study scripture is a very powerful one as it goes against human believes and the world’s system. It is a tough concept and that is why the benefits there after fall only on those that wait upon the Lord. If you will be obedient to this truth; you “shall mount up with wings as eagles”; reaching high heights without losing sight and soaring to the greatness of God Himself (Ephesians 2:6),“you shall run, and not be weary”; looking up to Jesus the author and finisher of your faith, in whom you can join at the right hand of God (Hebrews 12:1-2), “and you shall walk, and not faint”; because you’ve received Christ and you are in a good place for an eternal walk (Colossians 2:6).

Are you waiting on the Lord for something? Then you must quit worrying and start living in the truth of God’s words as regards that situation because waiting on the Lord is never passive.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”

Church Love

DAY 9

Christianity is not a religion of hate and bitterness. It does not prey on the weak and ‘the so called sinners’.

Salvation cannot be gotten outside Jesus- The world has rejected Jesus and so cannot find salvation except in the Church- it is important to note that we are the church.

Any time we reject a ‘sinner’ from coming to church, we are saying they should go the world and be saved and then come back to Jesus- there is no biblical backing to this school of thought; for only Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Jesus is salvation.

If a ‘sinner’ gets a platform to come to your church and stays long enough and there is still no conviction, then that church might be compromised.

When Jesus touches you, you can never remain the same. The church should never for fear or favour teach people what the ‘want to hear’ instead of what they ‘ought to hear’. By the way- who told you the church can’t grow a people whose ears are open to what the want to hear as what they ought to hear.

The church is a reflection of Jesus- Jesus is love; therefore the church is love.

God bless you as you walk in Love.

The Consequence

DAY 8

Due to misplaced priorities and inadequate knowledge,  we compromise God’s standard.  We are not called to follow the path the world leads- we are called, in dominion, to light the world.

The fact that you were entertained does not mean you were blessed; you cannot be blessed and not be entertained. Thinking otherwise affirms the first paragraph; if not, then this quote is common sense.

God bless you.

Transformation

image

DAY 6

What is transforming you?
Who is transforming you?

Whether you know it or not, the people you relate and associate with, affect you with the energy they carry. We tend to tilt towards their reasoning and way of life as we move along their path.

Whom do we worship?

And those who make idols are just like them, as are all
who trust in them- Psalm 115:8

Considering all your years of service to God; are you a reflection of Him or your pastor? We become like those we worship– today’s question is, who do you worship?  Whether or not your transformation would be significant depends on who is (and what is) transforming you.

Remember,  a green dye cannot transform a white cloth into pink– if the solution isn’t working; check to see if you’re answering the right question.

I reiterate,

What is transforming you?
Who is transforming you?

For the perfect and ideal life, I choose Jesus to transform me, and I’m a work in progress.

God bless you.

The Saving Grace of God

DAY 5

The Devil Needs God- As the image of God, he will be needing you too.

The devil needs God’s permission to make things work (the story of job, in one of the books of the bible- the book of Job; is a perfect illustration of this), and when he does not get it, he immediately switches to the image of God to help him make these things work.

The devil was created, so he cannot create, he can only attempt to manipulate created creatures. This is the root of our problems- the whole idea of creation (and all the created) is to do good; but because the devil has already turned evil, he also tries to turn other created beings into doing evil things (and he can when we allow him).

Here’s how it works; he makes music contrary to the glory of God (for instance), but people don’t buy, so he features the art of seduction- naked girls to pose as dancers– this captures even girls, let alone boys-need I say more…

A good percentage of people are no longer interested in pornography, which implies less sin against God; the devil is not happy with this, so he lets people create movies that do not carry the pornograpic theme and then puts in a little bit of ‘soft porn’, and a normal mind watches it with the mentally that it’s not a pornographic movie; it’s just a bit of  nakedness- it’s just brief sex- it’s just the 21st century lifestyle and culture- shown in the movie. We then say in our hearts, God would understand. The only reason the devil defeats you, is because he is able to deceive you.

But here’s the good new!
We can overcome the deceit of the devil if we consider the devil’s approach to be that of a businessman. Let’s imagine the devil as a businessman and we’re his prospective buyer, as a business man, he tells us all the ways things could go right with what he’s selling,he tries his best to make sure we buy his product because he does not want to lose (but he has already lost, however, he works on the premise that we do not know this), we call this temptation, but after all is said and done, it’s still our choice to decide whether to buy or not.

Since his temptation comes as a result of him assuming we do not know he has lost; the only way to overcome this, is to make him know we know! This is however only possible through the saving grace of God; therefore your decision to buy or not can only be solid if you accept and  know the Word- even Jesus used the Word (Matthew 4: 1-11)
Remember,
We overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb, and by the words of our testimony (Revelation 12:11)
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7)

It is very important to note that judgement has been passed on the devil- not on us!

We are in the era of grace; let’s make use of this grace to the glory of God’s name. As Christians, we are not called to judge people; we are called to introduce them to this grace, so that they can stop falling for the gimmicks of the devil.

God bless you- don’t forget to share your thoughts on this and feel free to ask questions.

Diligence

image

DAY 3

Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his works, he will stand before kings and not obscure men- Proverbs 22:29

A popular scripture indeed, but have we really understood the depths of it?

Scripture says, ‘do you see a man?’ this is a question asked to discover if a certain kind of man has been seen, a man ‘diligent’– that type of man committed without reservations, focused without the loss of sight ‘in his work’– this is one of the most important factors affecting us in our generation; people tend to indulge themselves in fantasies of a ‘fake living’. True satisfaction can only come through a man that fulfills his purpose.
‘He will stand before kings’– what an overwhelming feeling! Kings– he will be elevated from the Pit of Potiphar’ Prison to king Pharaohs Palace- men of ‘timber and calibre. The ‘S’ in the kings signifies that a man of purpose is celebrated not only in his comfort zone, but in the territory of every leadership. ‘And not obscure men’– obscure men are men of no value and purpose; this scripture categorically states such people would never be in a significant contact with you- A man of diligence.

God bless you.

The Secret Place

image

DAY 2

Yesterday,  we were able to establish the necessity of Dwelling in the presence of God and not just desiring to abide under His shadow ( To Abide you can follow this link if you missed it).  In my closing statement, I encouraged us to take up residence in Christ Jesus- Today I continue in this series by expanding on the idea of the Secret Place of the Almighty, to further illustrate the beauty of dwelling and subsequently abiding in Christ Jesus.

He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty- Psalm 91:1

The secret place of the Most High is the place of Prayer- the place of Praise- the place of Worship. It’s an opportunity for a lifestyle of Fellowship.  It’s that place of certainty; not in self, but in the Father.

The secret place of the Most High is that place were you can present your shame and not be embarrassed. It’s a place of Trust.

You hit the right notes in the secret place- the right hallelujah.  it’s a place were your tears and the heart of the Holy Spirit are in synchrony.  No pretense. It’s a place of a pure heart, a humble being and a genuine soul; that point you are the exact reflection of the Word- a place you enter as you are!

The secret place of the Most High is a point of absolute surrender. A place to seek the mercy seat and to enter the throne room of grace.

The secret place of the Most High is the house of intimacy with God- it’s not a place you visit- it’s your permanent address.

God bless you

To Abide

image

DAY 1.

ABIDE.
To sojourn, remain, encamp, sit down- to stay…

He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty- Psalm 91:1

To my understanding- This is to say, if you attend Comand Secondary School,  you will graduate with a degree from Command Secondary School.

Abiding under the shadow of the Almighty is a direct consequence of dwelling in His secret place.

So the more important thing isn’t abiding under the shadow of the Almighty,  but dwelling in His presence.

You can only call home- a place you reside in.

This piece could as well have been titled, To DWELL- in any case, the important thing is that you take up residence in the appropriate place. Mine is in a strong tower called Jesus! I can easily commune with the Father there.

God bless you.

God does not condemn- Neither should You

Psalms 51- A prayer for forgiveness. Everyone can be forgiven.

It is believed that Psalms 51 was written when Nathan the prophet came unto king David, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba- committing adultery and subsequently murder.  1 Kings 15:5, 2 Samuel 11:1-22. Surely it wasn’t for lack of poetic flow that the psalmist didn’t specifically list the sins for which he was guilty,  but decided to present the entire Chapter in a general contextLet’s study 5b to get an understanding

Psalms 51:5 (kjv) says, ‘… and in sin did my mother conceive me’. (John 3:6, Ephesians 2:3, Romans 5:12)

Did you notice how the psalmist did not say we were conceived in a specific type of sin?

Everyone is born a sinner; Nobody is born sinning!

The sins we commit as we grow older are a result of the opportunities that present themselves (temptations) to us. The type of sins we succumb to depends on such facts as: the environment we find ourselves,  peer pressure, self gratification, etcetera…. The bottom line is, no one is given birth to and ascribed a certain type of sin- just as no one is born a Christian. The sins we commit are the byproducts of the decisions we make daily and in time become.

The essence of this message is to establish that both the strange sins (those we wouldn’t commit because of our strengths) and the common sins (those we excuse because of our weaknesses) are all choices we make daily. The same way we picked lying and cheating as a sin, is the same way they picked stealing and homosexuality- neither of us was born with it.

To this effect; just because you didn’t pick pyrography doesn’t mean you should judge and condemn those who fall short of the glory of God via porn ( the hypocrisy is that, nonetheless, you watch the so called normal movies that contain alot of sexual scenes in it). While this is not to excuse any form of sin, the point is, the more we judge and condemn people, the more we are judged and condemned.

It is easy to hate on a murderer because you don’t kill people, but isn’t it funny that you find compassion in your heart for the rapist because that’s what you did three days ago? The bible says, remove the log in your eyes before trying to remove anything in anybody else… Notice how Jesus in all his glory never came to condemn the world (John 3:17)! Rather that through him, the world might be saved- He corrected and rebuked when necessary.

Dear Christians (those saved by grace),
I write this under the authority of all humility and respect- if we all judged less and corrected more, the world would be a better place. We are created in the Image and Likeness of God- lets not do what he wouldn’t do and what he hasn’t asked us to do…

We were all shapened in iniquity and we are all saved by grace- Christ loved us through the process– In love, correct and put right everything that needs correction and guidance.

2 Timothy 4:2 (AMP)
Preach the word [as an official messenger]; be ready when the time is right and even when it is not [keep your sense of urgency, whether the opportunity seems favorable or unfavorable, whether convenient or inconvenient, whether welcome or unwelcome]; correct [those who err in doctrine or behavior], warn [those who sin], exhort and encourage [those who are growing toward spiritual maturity], with inexhaustible patience and [faithful] teaching.

Disclaimer
Christ loved us while we were yet sinners- Romans 5:8. Everybody should be allowed to have the chance for salvation, just like you got yours. This message does not support any form of sin; rather it stands as a guide to establish that salvation is not by works lest any man should boast- Ephesians2:9
